Kim Kardashian Goes Blonde Again: Details on New Look
Kim Kardashian is keeping up with a new do! Almost three months after giving birth to baby North West, the 32-year-old stepped out for a Labor Day party showing off a new blonde look on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Wanting the "big change" for a while, her hairstylist, George Papanikolas, gave Us Weekly the simple steps on how to get the stunning look!
To create her caramel locks, Papanikolas and the first-time mom first went through pictures for inspiration. "[It's] the best way to communicate hair color," he tells Us. "That way we were able to come to an agreement of a blonde that is realistic considering her natural hair color, and would be the most flattering to her skin tone."
Next, Papanikolas lightened her natural base color two shades from a darker to lighter brown, followed by two heavy highlighting applications. "First a series of fine highlights at the roots, then the second was a heavy application at the mid-shaft and ends," he explained. "In between and after the highlights I used Joico's K-Pak Revitalux to keep it strong enough for a second round of highlights. Then entire process took about 5 hours."
If a brunette wants to go lighter, "it's very important to leave some depth at the root, otherwise they can look washed out," he warned. "It's also very important that your hair be in very good condition before attempting to do a drastic color change from dark to light, as it's very stressful to your hair.
